The Latest Relaxed Game Mode Ignites Heated Debates Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios launched a new game mode called Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but includes a few key adjustments:

  • Each team has just eight real players, with the remaining made up of 32 bots.
  • Actions done by human gamers grant complete experience points, while AI activities offer lower rewards.
  • Just a pair of locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State.
  • Features like Player tags, achievements, and career stat updates have been turned off.

In short, this mode lives up to its name: it offers a laid-back take of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume it's a good idea, as it gives more options for players seeking alternative ways to have fun with the title. But, if video games has shown one thing, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, a lot of BF6 fans are mad.

Community Reactions: Anger to Praise

"Gamers prefer human opponents. Don't repeat the mistakes of your rivals," states a response to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking idea," says another. At the same time, in community forums, one user remarks, "It's unclear where we are going with this game," and another lists all the issues they believe to be broken in the game: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, improve hit detection. We do not require this bot mode."

On the other hand, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're liking the new mode. "It's enjoyable to practice, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," says one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who actually go outside and can't play this title all the time. Let them strike a balance," states another. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," while another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Valid Concerns and Community Input

All that said, players have constructive reasons to complain about the new mode. Some users have pointed out that it could increase wait times even longer for different playlists due to the sheer number of options currently available. Similarly, certain regions already encounter AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. It also seems a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of real players, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.

Lastly, a major grievances is that a previous feature was meant to offer full XP, including AI matches, but that got canned when they tried to remove bot farms from the mode. Thus this new playlist feels like the player base compromising halfway, according to forum feedback. A different user describes this mode as the devs "making a mistake significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?"

Future Prospects: Will Changes Occur?

If the development team has demonstrated something to date with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Tasks that were overly hard got fixed rapidly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, should analytics shows this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to change it again.
