Jurgen Klopp says coming back to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains an option. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-year spell that included continental glory and ending the club's long wait for three decades, now holds roles in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured the league title last season, though countless followers who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I will never coach another team on English soil. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“I’m 58, that means the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to management, he revealed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be under bad weather through long matches; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, yet sharing a meal with the players enjoying conversation, that’s nice. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits at the club. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter in my ear as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended for his successor, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion it could be the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, and its impact for the team. The Portugal international was killed in a car crash with his brother in July.
“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. Not a single person might employ it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Coping with it emotionally is challenging. Impossible.”
