Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
