Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
