Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
American entertainer Finn, who featured in popular TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.
"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a message.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive TV Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
