A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as sparing festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future without fear.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to open the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
