A Pair of Cuba-Destined Aid Ships Declared Missing after Setting Sail from the Coast of Mexico.
A comprehensive rescue and recovery mission is currently in progress in the Caribbean waters for two missing sailing vessels loaded with relief goods en route from Mexico to the island of Cuba.
Naval Search and Rescue Missions Launched
Mexico has deployed naval teams and reconnaissance aircraft to find the Friendship and Tigger Moth, which were had on board no fewer than 9 sailors, as stated by a official statement.
The ships had been expected to reach the Cuban capital on the early part of the week, but there has been a complete lack of contact from them and no official word of their docking, authorities reported.

"Both skippers and their teams are experienced sailors, and each boat are outfitted with proper safety systems and communication devices," an official associated with the mission stated.
The nine crew members are citizens of France, Poland, the United States, and Cuba. Officials said it has been in touch with rescue coordination centers from the involved countries along with their diplomatic representatives.
"We are collaborating completely with the authorities and are still optimistic in the ability of the crews to make it to Cuba without incident," the statement continued.
Recent Humanitarian Delivery
Earlier in the week, the Cuban authorities widely celebrated and greeted with fanfare another boat that had transported 14 tons of relief supplies to the nation.
That ship, dubbed "a modern Granma" after the vessel in which the revolutionary leader landed in Cuba to launch the revolution in the 1950s, delivered solar panels, drugs, baby formula, bicycles and food.
